History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

The club-studio of miniature “Doll’s House” was opened in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve in early January. Its work was organized by professional artist-ceramist, People’s Artist of Russia Marina Vasilieva. Her author’s exhibition titled “Kind Dolls. Old Fairy Tales” where every article can be called unique is open in the Cook-house of the museum. There is a special tour “Doll’s Route”.

Marina Vasilieva has been delivering master-classes in pottery for many years. She has started to make movable terracotta dolls and puppets recently. Now visitors of the museum have a chance to act as real doll masters whose profession was full of mystery from time immemorial. Besides, they can attend theatricalized lectures with participation of puppets.

Lessons of Marina Vasilieva are conducted regularly both in the afternoon and in the evening. You can enroll for one of the master-classes in the Department of Visitor Relations. The number of people participating in one master-class can be different; it depends of the tourist’s choice. The “Doll’s House” can hold groups of not more than eight people. The master-class in pottery is delivered individually for everybody. It lasts 1,5 hour at most.

You can get to the master-class of Marina Vasilieva if you come to any large museum event. The “Doll’s House” is always open during folk festivals and fairs. Sometimes lessons are conducted in the open air. Children are especially interested in such a creation process as making of dolls or earthenware with their own hands. That’s why families often take part in the master classes.
