His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia accepted the invitation of Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov to come to the Vologda region in April 2013. This visit is scheduled for October and is connected with his participation in the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the uncovering of the St. Martinian’s relics.
During the three-day visit, the Patriarch will come both to the Ferapontov Monastery and to the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve.
Four meetings of the organizing committee concerning preparation for the visit of the head of the Russian Orthodox Church have already been held. The program of the Patriarch’s staying in the Vologda region was made at the last one that took place with the participation of the Vologda Oblast Governor.
According to this program, the Patriarch will come to Kirillov on October 20. He will conduct the liturgy in the Dormition Cathedral in the morning and then will make a tour of the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. In particular, he will see the exhibitions in the House of the Father Superior and the Refectory. In the afternoon, the Patriarch will go to Ferapontovo to perform a service near the shrine of St. Martinian. A tour of the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes will be also conducted for him.
Patriarch Kirill will return to Moscow at the end of all events.
