Alexey Nikolaevich Osipov was born in the Shilyakovo village in the peasant’s family in 1904. He began to work at the age of 15. He got to the navy according to the special enrollment. Alexey graduated from the Naval Academy with honours in 1938. His new work was connected with development of weapons for the fleet. In autumn 1940, he was sent to Germany to work in the Soviet trade mission as the best specialist. When the war started, Alexey turned out to be in captivity. Only in autumn 1941, thanks to the efforts of the politicians, the Russian diplomatic corps was exchanged for the German one. During the war, A. Osipov developed and made new special equipment for our fleet. The gear in the development of which he had taken part helped our submarine to spot the enemy squadron under the conditions of low visibility and fog in 1942 and to attack the battleship “Tirpitz” – the terror and pride of the German fleet. The equipment made by the native of the Kirillov district and his colleagues gave invaluable help to the Soviet seamen many times.
After the war, Alexey Osipov continued fulfilling complicated tasks of the command. He was awarded a name dirk by the Commander of the Navy of the USSR in 1954 and the badge “Honorary Radio Operator” in 1957. A.N. Osipov died in 1969 and was buried in St. Petersburg.
