History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

The International Museum Festival “Intermuseum” will be held in the Central House of Artist (Moscow) from May 31 to June 4, 2013. It is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation with the assistance of the Russian Union of Museums and the Russian Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM). Over 200 museums of Russia and the CIS countries will take part in it.

The first “Intermuseum” festival took place in 1999 and that event found deep resonance. Its status changed many times – it was an international and an All-Russian festival. This year’s event will be the largest. Its main subject is the following: “Museum – Educational Resource of the Society”.

During five days, guests of the festival will be able to see expositions of large state museums, to admire rare exhibits of small museums located in the Russian province, to learn what is kept in the “closed” departmental museums. The events will take place on eight grounds.

The Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve is the only participant of the “Intermuseum 2013” representing the Vologda region. It will introduce such projects as the club-studio of miniature “Doll’s House” and the club of historical reenactment “Tsar’s Stronghold”. Museum employees will organize interactive programs for children and will deliver master-classes. Our museum will participate in the festival for the 12th time.

It is interesting to note that Kirillov has been presented on the official website of the “Intermuseum 2013” for several weeks to some extent. There are only two photos on its main page – the building of the Central House of Artist in Moscow and a fragment of the cultural program with participation of Yulia Styopina, employee of the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve.
