History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

The museum fine arts studio “Tchereda” was opened in 2012 on the initiative of Mikhail Sharomazov, director of the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. This year’s final exhibition housed in the hall of the administration building is the second one for the pupils of the studio. It is a display of creative works where children can see and estimate themselves from the outside. And it is an important moment in the formation of their professional and personal qualities. This school year was rich in events: the pupils participated in the All-Russian contest of children’s drawings “Architecture of Medieval Rus” and the district contest “I Will Paint Everything Around!” Five of them became laureates. The pupils’ works were displayed in the art gallery “Red Bridge” (Vologda), in the exhibition hall of the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes, the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve and were highly appreciated by specialists, our fellow countrymen and foreign guests.

During a year, the pupils visited six art exhibitions and fulfilled tasks connected with their subjects. Besides, they had lessons in the museum expositions and in the studio. All best children’s drawings couldn’t be presented in the final display – a separate exhibition of graphic works will be probably staged later.

The displayed works reflect two relatively thematic directions of the training process: drawings connected with the general history of art and the ones concerning expositions and exhibitions of the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes. The pupils of the studio began to learn the course of history not with the traditional primitive art, but with the beginnings of life on Earth. This small difference helps to form a correct chronology of events, including events in the art sphere.

Visits to the temporary exhibitions which present real works of art influence the artistic and aesthetic development of children. They have a chance not only to see and to feel real art, but also to be inside of it, fulfilling practical tasks on the given subject. Alexandra and Semyon Orekhovs, Yegor and Sveta Trubnikovs, Natasha Nikolaeva, Olya Mykina, Ilya Ivanov, Nastya Doronicheva, Natasha Toropova, Sonya Parshukova, Sonya Orekhova, Lisa Yegorova, Darina Chashchina, Sonya Anokhina do it very well.

The Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes wishes young artists further success and will look forward to meeting them next school year!
