It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

The open-man exhibition entitled “Lyudmila Lupushor. Painting, Graphic Arts” was opened in the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes. The works presented there are various concerning their subjects, genres and manners of execution. You can see Italian and French architectural monuments (including world-wide famous one, such as the Colosseum and Notre Dame de Paris), portraits of the artist’s family members.

Employees of the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve and the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes, representatives of the Kirillov District Administration, members of the Vologda Regional Branch of the Union of Russian Artists, friends and relatives of Lyudmila Lupushor attended the opening ceremony. Congratulating the artist on this solemn event, they noted that they found something close in her pictures; the others looked at familiar places from another angle.

Lyudmila Alexandrovna Lupushor told us the following about her new exhibition: “Every person perceives the world around in one’s own way. We usually communicate, using words and modulating loudness and rhythm with our voice. Emotionality is added with mimicry and gestures. But you can do it in a different way. Listening to music, we apprehend the musician’s emotions thanks to harmony or discord of sounds, loudness, rhythm and tempo of the melodic line. Looking at a painting or a sculpture, we perceive colour saturation, rhythm of lines, and play of volumes, light and shadow.

Anyway, the most important is communication itself: “Do you remember? Can you see? Look, how beautiful it is! What do you think?” It seems as if we tuned our emotions, thoughts and actions in a common way, developed a common attitude to life, common life principles and rules of behavior. And it is exactly the art that helps us in it. But the art will be the first that will violate all rules and principles, revolting against any falseness. The society as a huge music instrument is tuned in a common way. I just wanted to share my vision with you”.

The exhibition will be open till May 21, 2013.
