Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

The event entitled “The Breath of the Past Blows Again” was held in the Museum of town and district history on Saturday. People could attend it by invitation only. The guests got to the atmosphere of the early 20th century and visited the house of the district doctor Nodelman.

They were welcomed by Anna - the oldest sister of the Nodelmans, who said that the head of the family was away and the sisters decided to host a small party. Anna showed the house to the guests: first they went to the “father’s” room and then to the drawing-room where two sisters – Olga and Lyubashenka – sang romances for them.

Galina waited for the visitors in the bedroom to tell them about the things which could be seen there and to play a game which was popular in the 19th-century saloons. The idea of the game was the following: names of flowers were written on specials cards and a certain phrase corresponded to every name. The names of flowers on all cards were the same, but different phrases conformed to them. A person was to pronounce the flower name and gave the card to another guest who understood what the first participant wanted to say thanks to the card and the flower name. Thus, two persons knew the true content of the conversation, but for the rest, these were only names of flowers.

While the guests got acquainted with the rooms of the house, the sisters laid the table in the drawing-room. The youngest sister Annushka told everybody about “coffee” - a drink which became popular in Kirillov not long ago and invited them to taste it. They could also taste tea with sweets. Everyone liked it. Bidding farewell to the guests, the sisters promised to host one more party in future. It is worth noting that this event took place within the framework of the program “Merry Museum”.
