The artist about himself:
“When I was a student, we went to the exhibitions in the Manezh and I noticed the following: if people liked the artist – specialists didn’t. If specialists liked the artist – people didn’t. I though, “What shall I do?” And I told myself then, “I will try to please neither these nor those. I will do what I think. Beautiful! I got a kind of interesting freedom as a result. I have freedom in my heart: I am not afraid of anybody, I don’t need to cave in to anybody and I have started to express what I like. And this is what I call my art and now it is breaking through because it is original, deep-felt and it is natural”.
The exhibition of Genrih Asafov will be open in the museum up to February 22.
