A display of pictures created by eight artists of the Vologda Creative and Exhibition Association “Rainbow” – V. Grigoriev, Y. Korobov, N. Mishusta, N. Sazhin, A. Borisov, V. Antonov, N. Antonova, E. Shevchenko - was opened in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve on February 20.
Both well-known places (for instance, the Kirillo-Belozersky and the Ferapontov monasteries) and unknown beautiful landscapes of the Russian North are depicted in the pictures presented in the conference hall. You can see different parts of the Vologda region and can understand how rich its spiritual history which doesn’t fall into oblivion is. Along with the Russian landscapes, the exhibition includes Greek ones painted by V. Antonov.
“Our exhibition is the product of the artists who united in 1995 to carry out creative work at the time of stagnation in Russia in the 1990s. We called our group “Rainbow” and this name became naturalized, though some people considered it to be childish or youth. But youth must inhere in the artist in spite of his or her age. This exhibition presents only a small part of the store of works which we have created within these years. As for me, I wanted to show those pictures the material for which I amassed here in Kirillov. I plan to continue working on this interesting subject in future. I am very grateful to the organizers for the arrangement of the exhibition and an opportunity to meet with you”, said Nikolay Mishusta, chairman of the Artists’ Union of the Vologda region, at the opening ceremony.
You can come and admire wonderful paintings of talented professional artists every day, except Monday and Tuesday, from 9:00 to 17:30. Admission by ticket.
