Tatiana Tserkovnitskaya, wondeful person, old and faithful friend of the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve, donator and indispensable assistant of museum employees in the study of local history, honorary freeman of Kirillov, died after serious illness on January 23. She was 85.
Tatiana Tserkovnitskaya (nee Baldina) was born in the Kirillov district on September 29, 1927. She graduated from Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute named after Gertsen in 1949 and worked as a teacher of Russian and literature in the Leningrad region from 1949 to 1954. She taught literature in the Vologda Regional Cultural and Educational School (now the Vologda Regional Training School of Culture) from 1954 through 1980. Tatiana Tserkovnitskaya was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, the Jubilee Medal “For Valiant Labour - In Commemoration of the Centenary of the Birth of Vladimir Lenin”, the badge of the Ministry of Culture of the USSR “For Excellent Work”, numerous honorary certificates.
It was exactly Tatiana Tserkovnitskaya who prepared a selection of poems written by the Kirillov’s authors for publication in the first issue of the anthology “Kirillov” (1994). The exhibition titled “The Tserkovnitskys in the history and culture of Kirillov” was open in the museum in 2004-2005. Most of the displayed items were brought from the house of their family. Tatiana Tserkovnitskaya made an important contribution to preservation of the cultural and historical heritage of the Kirillov region. She donated many articles of the town life of the early 20th century, documents, books and photographs; willed the house where several generations of the family had lived to the museum.
We grieve over the death of Tatiana Tserkovnitskaya and present our condolence to her relatives and friends. We will always cherish the memory of her.
