Dear friends,
New Year 2013 is coming. But before the clock strikes midnight, let’s remember that a lot has been done in the preceding year.
First of all, in 2012, in spite of all troubles of modern life, we have managed to implement the idea we couldn’t even dream of not long ago: all icons of the unique by its artistic level, exactly dated iconostasis of the Dormition Cathedral have been exhibited in the Moscow Kremlin Museums – the main treasury of the country. Painted in 1497, almost all images have come down to us. The general public couldn’t contemplate this masterpiece in all its grandeur over dozens and even hundreds of years up to the present.
The most significant event of 2013 will be opening of the unique complex of the Dormition Cathedral after restoration. I hope that visitors of the museum will see the iconostasis, painting in the cathedral and its northern parvis, the interior of the Church of St. Vladimir in the middle of the year. It is extremely important not only for us, but for the whole Vologda region if the first service is performed in the church on the commemoration day of St. Kirill. Preparation and holding of the events marking the 500th anniversary of the uncovering of the St. Martinian’s relics will be no less important.
These large significant events will certainly promote the museum development. I thank everybody who has been participating in these achievements! I wish all employees and friends of the museum a Happy New Year and a Merry Christmas! May the New Year be full of interesting work, bright creative ideas, discoveries, and new trips! I wish you strength and health! We will do a lot for the development and improvement of our museum and preservation of its best traditions all together! May the festive spirit of the New Year’s holidays be with you during the whole year!
